About
Originally from Frankfurt, Julien and Markus moved to London for a year and emerged themselves in the British music scene. After their move from East London into Funkhaus Berlin, the band embarked on countless shows and has been touring for 3 years all over Europe, playing an arena show in St. Petersburg as support and was asked to play Reading & Leeds, as well as Latitude and The Great Escape festival in the UK.
The band is developing their sound further to yet again surprise their audience with an outstanding experience. Shortly after their 2016 “Out Is In” debut EP, they released their 12 track debut album called “Hymns to the Night”. After one and a half years of touring, they went back to their studio in Funkhaus Berlin to focus on writing their second album which will be released in spring/summer 2021.
In the process of writing the album the band went to Spain and wrote music for three months without a pause. The result was the"Love Is Not An Empire” EP that sounds much more acoustic and stripped down which was mainly due to their isolated bubble and the constant power cuts in their house on the Andalusian country side. The hit single “I Am OK” from the EP received wide support from KEXP US, to Radioeins in Germany and Apple Music B1 Chart Show London.
Straight afterwards they took the tourbus to Italy to play a tour with Apparat, who is also a big supporter of the group and included two songs of Lea Porcelain into the score for the german-italian feature film "Stand Still”, directed by Elisa Mishto. Following the successful release of the EP, Lea Porcelain played a nearly sold out European and Eastern European tour in 2019.
In February Julien and Markus flew to L.A. to finish writing the last songs for their highly anticipated second album. The band announced their new album, “CHOIRS TO HEAVEN” with the title song of the same name and a video starring the German-Russian actress and model Lera Abova, directed by renowned photographer Peter Kaaden.
After lockdown and a summer in the studio, the band was asked by “COLORSXSTUDIOS” to play a live performance of their upcoming track “POOL SONG”. “Pool Song” was also featured in GTA 5’s latest update on KULT.FM, the radio station by Julien Casablancas of The Strokes who handpicked the tracks.
Lea Porcelain have a lot planned for 2021 and you need to make sure to keep an eye open for this ever so surprising Berlin band. The path they are currently on reflects a journey of great and sincere musical creations and a lot of hope on the horizon of a German band that increasingly attracts international attention.
